Rotary Peace Initiative

Past 7620 District Governor, Peter Kyle will present the Rotary Peace Initiative.
Peter was born and raised in New Zealand. After graduating with degrees in law and economics from Victoria University of Wellington he clerked for the Chief Justice of New Zealand and was then awarded a Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship to pursue post-graduate studies in law at the University of Virginia in 1973. Upon his return to New Zealand he was admitted to partnership in one of the country’s leading corporate law firms. In 1992 he moved to Washington, DC to take up a senior position as an international attorney with the World Bank. He retired from the Bank 7 years ago but continues as a consultant. Peter has also been very active in Outward Bound and currently serves as the Chair Emeritus of Outward Bound International.
Peter was inducted into the Rotary Club of Wellington North in 1976 and has since served in a variety of leadership positions in Rotary Clubs in Manila, Auckland and Capitol Hill, (Washington, DC). He served as the Governor of District 7620 in 2013/14 and has since then served as chair or as a member of many Rotary committees at the District, Zone and International levels. At the international level he has chaired the RI Alumni Advisory Committee, served as the Co-Chair of the Rotary Foundation Alumni Celebration at the Bangkok Convention in 2012, chaired the Peace Symposium at the Sao Paulo Convention in 2015 and currently chairs the Rotary Peace Centers Committee.
In 2010 he was honored with the RF Global Alumni Service to Humanity Award and he is also the recipient of the Rotary Foundation’s Citation for Meritorious Service.
Peter and his wife Margaret live on the West River south of Annapolis, MD.
