Connecting the World – WE ARE ROTARY: The Rotary Club of Lexington Park is proud to team with Rotary District 7620 to provide a $10,000 grant to GrowingStems to 3D print face shields and build N95 masks. These dedicated high school students have provided thousands of protective devices to front-line medical personnel from Maryland to New York.

The Feed St. Mary’s Food Bank, spawned by the Rotary Club of Lexington Park, opened for business with its first delivery of food on March 20, 2020. All food is destined for immediate distribution to local Food Pantries. Feed St. Mary’s has become an official partner of the Maryland Food Bank which distributes much needed food statewide.

Connecting the World – WE ARE ROTARY: The fourth object of Rotary is “The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service”. The Rotary Club of Lexington Park celebrates this by participating in Rotary’s 4 Way Test Speech Contest, where local high school students compete in oratorial skills illustrating Roary’s 4 Way Test.

Connecting the World - WE ARE ROTARY: Social distancing can be overcome by distant socializing among good friends. The Rotary Club of Lexington Park held a successful social holiday event on Zoom. Members were encouraged to wear distinctive hats. It definitely answered the "Is it Fun" test.

Connecting the World - I AM ROTARY; Dr, Mel Powell, Scholarship Chairman of the Rotary Club of Lexington Park, was featured at the Club's recent virtual meeting. Dr. Powell discussed his latest book, "Corruption in a Global Context". The book is poised to become a leading text in International Studies.

Connecting the World - WE ARE ROTRY: Will Gates, captain of the Maryland Dove, headlined the Lexington Park Rotary Club's first virtual meeting. Captain Gates described the construction of the new Dove replica which will eventually be based at Historic St. Mary's City. The meeting went off flawlessly with great group decorum.

Club President, Dr., Gina Faden, presented Carol Moody, wife of Past President Bill Moody, with a certificate for her presentation. Carol gave a spellbinding talk on the historical homes of St. Mary's County. The Club now meets online.

The Growing stems are scaling up production of N95 masks and 3D printed face shields for front line medical personnel. While the product is essential, the student experience is invaluable.
